2010 KIA Rio Review

Rio was introduced in 2000 and this sedan replaced KIA’s first generation Pride which is a rebadged version of KIA’s Avella and Ford’s Festival. Second generation of Rio was introduced in 2005 in Europe and in 2006 in North America. This sedan shares its redesigned platform with Hyundai Accent. KIA Rio is known as New Pride in South Korean domestic market. This 2010 model is offered with redesigned exterior which is included with Tiger Nose Front grille. For 2010 model Rio was awarded with facelift for hatchback and sedan body type. This model shares its interior design with KIA Forte and KIA Soul. National based price of 2010 KIA Rio is around $ 11,695 which excludes destination charges.

Body Style and Features:

KIA Rio is a sub compact sedan available in two body styles which include four-door sedan and four-door hatchback. KIA Rio sedan is available in three trim levels and Rio Hatchback is also known as Rio5 is available with two trim levels. Rio Sedan is available with Base model, LX and sporty SX models and RIO5 will be available with LX and SX trim levels.

Some of the standard features available with basic trim levels are 14 inch steel wheels, rear defroster, audio system with four speakers CD and MOP player, satellite radio and power mirrors.

KIA Rio LX is mated with few more interesting features which include power steering, split folding rear seat, air conditioner, tilt and telescopic steering wheel, AUX-IN and Bluetooth connectivity. Top variant SX model is added with 16 inch alloy wheels, rear spoiler, upgraded cloth upholstery, metallic interior trim and leather wrapped steering wheel. KIA Rio SX is added with most of the features from LX via LX value package.

Engine and performance:

2010 KIA Rio and RIO 5 are armored with 1.6 L capacity engine which will be mated with five speed manual gear transmission and four speed automatic gear transmission as an option on SX and LX models. Rio 5 is fitted with automatic transmission and capable of accelerating from zero to 60 MPH in 11.5 seconds.

Design and special features:

Rio’s cock pit is very pleasant and enough for sedan with this price range. Interior is offered with superior quality fabrics which presents pleasant feeling for all occupants. Dashboard is arranged with legible gauges with simple control buttons. Front occupants enjoy ample leg and head room. This sedan is also offered with foldable armrest which is a plus point for drivers, but main disadvantage of the dashboard is it doesn’t comprise small storage compartment which disappoints a bit.
